So, this is my hopeful for ! ;w; I hope I get in... It's such a nice and welcoming group! If not, well, I'll continue to revise this guy and stalk the group. XD

▫ Likes:

*Family: Roberto's family means the world to him and he would do anything to protect them. He does not believe family is limited to blood however. He views the entire Brotherhood as his family and tries to be fatherly or brotherly to those who need it.

*Chess: Roberto loves logic and strategy and playing chess is one of the few times in life he can exercise both without having to fear what consequences a loss would bring.

*Acrobatics and acrobatic performances: Despite nearing his forties, one of Roberto's favourite pass times is performing cartwheels or handstands, vaulting himself across roof tops, flips or watching others perform these stunts.

*Wine: Roberto likes to call himself something on an unofficial wine expert. Though he rarely gets drunk, he usually has at least one glass of afternoon wine everyday. In fact, the only reason he chose the colour of his cloak to be as it is is because the colour is called "wine".

*His Wife: While he loves all his family anyone can see the connection he has with his wife is cherished. Roberto holds her in very high regards and should any threaten her he will not hold back in his protection of her. He tries to keep her out of his work with the Brotherhood but, in her words "How could I stay away from something that is part of who you are?" While not an assassin herself she does her best to aid by being her husbands eyes and ears in Venosa while he is away. She is the world to Roberto.

▫ Dislikes:

*Any alcohol other than wine: Roberto prides himself of having good tastes. Ale and any other drinks aren't classy enough for him.

* High ranking Templars: Roberto dislikes all templars in general, but he feels those lower on the ladder at least have their hearts still; that they truly believe they are making the world better for all. He feels that many of the higher ups care only for making the world better for themselves and care not for others, a selfishness he despises. Of course, he is naturally very biased against any templar.

* People who treat their family poorly: As a family man, it confuses and upsets Roberto when people do not treat their kin kindly.

* Water: He CAN swim, but fish freak him out (unless they are on a plate where they belong! ) and the weeds and muck are disgusting to him.

▫ Personality:

Roberto is generally a nice man. He was born into a good family who taught him compassion above all else and this compassion only grew when his Father introduced him to the Brotherhood. He is very gentlemanly, elegant and intelligent and always loves a good conversation. He is not a man without flaws though! If he goes without his daily glass of wine, he can be crabby and snappy and downright rude and insulting, even to those he cares about. And between his job and work with the Brotherhood, these days happen at least once every few weeks. He also lets his emotions get in the way of his work at times and as both an Assassin and Lawyer this is one of his greatest weaknesses. He gets sidetracked when a mission goes on for much longer than it should have. But he does know how to say sorry.


▫ Biography:

Born in Venosa Italy in 1476, Roberto has lived a privileged life with his Mother, Father and younger siblibs, Elizabeth and Christopher. For many years, his Mother or Father would send him to bed with wild stories of heros hidden in shadows filling his ears. But in 1492 at the age of sixteen he learned the truth behind all those tales when he was introduced to the Brotherhood. In 1497, during a family trip to Molfetta, Roberto met Beatrice Mona, a young noblewoman, only a few years younger than he. While the trend at the time was to marry daughters off young to older men, Beatrice had not yet been wed and Roberto never enjoyed the idea of having a wife the same age or younger than his eleven year younger sister. Beatrice and Roberto were wed in 1499 and by 1500 they had their first child, Bartolomeo. Roberto went to the University of Naples to study Law (though there were at times he feared he would not pass due to his work with the Brotherhood cutting into his studies) and graduated in 1502. He is very didicated to both his work as a lawyer and to helping the Brotherhood, though there are times he has to turn down job offers as a lawyer because he knows that his work as an Assassin MUST come first. As he gets older he makes sure to stay fit as to be able to aid the Brotherhood in anyway, no matter what the mission. When not on duty he is either in his home at Venosa or in Molfetta and always is he with his family. Currently he is blessed with three sons, Bartolomeo, Pomponio and Lucio (ages tweleve, ten and six) with a fourth child on the way.

Other Information

On a mission that requires him to kill, Roberto ALWAYS goes to a tavern that serves wine for a few drinks. To keep himself for getting known, he goes to a different one each time.

And there we have it! And if anyone one is interested, this really is my Ancestor. Roberto Maranta was a real man and he is the base for my character. Now, before anyone yells out "Hey, where's all the work one normally puts into a character? You just stole some guy from history!" I did do lots of characterization. XD So don't worry! All the information I got for Roberto was from a few websites on the net, including Wikipedia. And all I really took from these were his date of birth, whom he married to, his children and his profession. His personality, when he met his wife, the ages of his siblings, his likes, dislikes, heck even the date of birth of his sons I deicieded and created. I'm actually have a few things planned for this character that will likely make him, in the end, different from the Roberto history remembers. I'm really happy with this guy, he's a joy to write with. XD
